In September 2013, ISB celebrated it's 20th annual Terry Fox Run. We invited Terry Fox's sister, Judith Fox to speak to our community and inspire us to continue participation in the future. The Terry Fox Foundation raises funds and awareness each year for cancer research. The website is: www.terryfox.org.
This is a compilation video put together by a group of high school students and Experiential Learning Coordinator, Mary Wenstrom. |
In September 2013, ISB welcomed Artist in Resident, Ann Weber to our campus for the month to work with our students and staff. Ann Weber is known as the "dumpster diver" and creates beauty from a common material, cardboard. Students learned how to be creative and innovative with regular materials, turning trash into treasure. K-12 students worked on various pieces in Art classes to create a showcase that was on display at the Sky Gallery in the famous 798 Art District of Beijing.
"The Ripple Effect" exhibition focused around the scarcity of water around the world. The art was also on display at the 2013 Global Issues Network (GIN) conference at ISB later in November. This video was created by Michael Dawson and students from Filmmaking 1 Class. |

Each year, ISB celebrates Men's Health Awareness month in November, otherwise known as MOvember. The purpose of the Month's events is to create awareness and funds for men's cancer research. We encourage all males to get an annual health check-up.
This is an ISB student produced video, created by Oscar Shaw (class of 2015). |
In November 2012, ISB students and staff created this "MOvember Style" video as a parody from the song, "Gangnam Style" by Psy. The video was a fun way to create men's health awareness for the month of November. The film was shown at the all staff winter party and on screens at the school.

A Spring 2014, student produced video of an Experiential Learning Opportunity that has taken place for several years in Lijang, China. This ISB project educates, empowers and engages local schools and community in southern China in environmental and sustainability issues. The project also fosters communication and collaboration between our students and the country we live in.
This Experiential Learning Opportunity has been a part of CAS and community service, but we hope to move it to our curricular framework and coursework in the future. |
